What is the serving size, in grams, of Orbit Sugarfree, Sweet Mint-flavored gum? Sweet Mint is, by the way, the best flavor.
Because, Who Doesn’t Like A Flamethrower In Their Face? June 6, 2007

From Geekologie:
Combining Dance Dance Revolution and Flamethrowers. What could possibly go wrong? I would like to see Flamethrowers combined with more activities…
Litter: Flame in your face.
Get a trivia question wrong: Flame in your face.
Push the cross-walk button at a busy intersection, decide not to wait for the walk signal and jaywalk anyways, causing all traffic to stop AFTER you’ve already reached the other side: HUGE flames in your impatient face.
Loud, drunk and obnoxious college freshman on the T: Death by flames (in your baby face).
Don’t reciprocate in bed: Flames [or similar] in your face.
What would you like to combine flamethrowers with?? I’m very curious. Best submission gets a bonus point. Leave ‘em in the comments section.
Popemobile. June 6, 2007

As part of my ongoing coverage of Pope Stuff, I would like to bring a video clip to your attention. It seems that a man in St. Peter’s Square recently tried to board the Popemobile (which was, at the time, enpoped) by jumping a jersey barrier and onto the moving vehicle. Jersey barriers are known in Italy as Taranto barriers because, as everyone knows, Taranto is the armpit equivalent of Italy.
The man was quickly taken down by security forces and is probably in super secret Vatican prison right now. I am certain that super secret Vatican prison is far far worse than Gitmo. Please pay special attention to the security forces along the parade route wearing red pantaloons. They may look like they belong in Boston’s Pride Parade but they are actually part of the Swiss Guard that has protected each Pope since 1506. They may look silly and fabulous but they are in fact deadly.
Whiskey Remark Wins! June 5, 2007

It was a battle all night… There were many changes in lead but Whiskey remark managed to come out on top and take home the John Harvard’s Trivia Trophy of Awesomeness. Congrats! Bone Saw and Beers for Marc rounded out the top three.
Best of all, the microphones are fixed! It’s tough to have a trivia night without microphones. On a different note, I have made a promise to one team that from now on, the super bonus question will never have anything to do with English Monarchs! So you can all rest easy. I will warn you however that on Monday, July 2nd, you should be prepared for lots of Independence Day trivia!

Who hosted this year’s MTV Movie Awards?
Clutterbuck. May 29, 2007

So last night was marred by… no wait, completely and irreparably destroyed by the fact that the John Harvard’s microphone died after Round 2. I wasn’t quite sure what the best course of action was at that point. I knew that trying to yell to everyone would never work…so hopefully my hand-written quizzes sufficed. I am buying 2 new microphones tonight so it won’t happen again.
Despite the clutterbuck, Human Knot managed to take home the win and the Jim Farnsworth Love Cup… which they will get to rename next week. Thanks for bearing with me!

Who directed 28 Weeks Later? I saw it at the Somerville Theatre this weekend…which, by the way, now has a liquor license!
Summer is here! May 25, 2007

Well it’s now officially Memorial Day weekend and so summer is upon us. It was about 93 degrees in Somerville today I know this because I measured about 127mm of sag on my scrotometer today. Yes, you just read what you think you read. There is a very precise formula that varies guy to guy… You need to set a baseline during the winter and then it’ll workout to something like:
Let “x” be the amount of sag measured at any point in time then
(x – 72.6mm) * 1.8307 = Degrees Fahrenheit. ***
***Formula only works when temperature is about 93 degrees. I will have one of my math oriented friends take a look at it (the forumla!) and come up with a better one. As I said before, I was an English major.
I would like to send a special thanks to all the young women who laid out in bikinis today across the street from my house. I live across from the triangle Tufts field that juts out into Powderhouse Circle. How many people have a job where they can work from their porch with laptop and lemonade and enjoy the sun and sights? I am thankful.
Remind me NEVER to tell my family that I have a blog.

These ads are for a program called the X Show… which I think is off the air. I don’t remember seeing them when they originally aired, but I wish I had. Basically it’s about some guys in everday situations that say whatever comes to mind… after you see the first one, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. My only question: why no mention of trivia??
Thanks to Mackie for the links.
Systematic Victory! May 22, 2007

It’s good to be back. Last night was full of lead changes, trophy-ogling, and cute Australians… how could those factors NOT combine to make for a good night? A team called Systematic Chaos took first place and the rights to the “Jim Farnsworth Love Cup” formerly known as the the John Harvard’s Trivia Trophy of Awesomeness.
Motorcycles Are Everywhere took second… (the name is, no doubt, a reference to the fact that I just got my motorcycle license) And the Bjjj’s took third. I have no idea what that team name is about but I think I would like to find out.
